Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) VANGUARD is a unit of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets – a Canadian national youth program sponsored by the Canadian Forces and the Navy League of Canada. We have been dedicated to the cause of training the youth of Toronto since 1958 and we are stationed at HMCS YORK, a Canadian Forces Naval Reserve Division.

The program is open to men and women, aged 12-18, with our goal being to provide the youth of Toronto with the opportunities to lead, capture unforgettable memories, and most importantly, to have fun. There are no registration fees to become a cadet and all are welcome to join us. Cadets are not part of the Canadian Forces are not expected to join.

The purpose of this website is to provide information and resources to our cadets, parents, and parents of prospective cadets.

We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions and if you’d like to pop in on a Tuesday evening, we would love to see you!

What is the sea cadet program?

The sea cadet program is a free program that is part of the largest federally-sponsored youth program in Canada that includes the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets.

It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the activities of the Canadian Navy, all at no cost.

The sea cadet program, as a whole, has three aims:

To develop in youth the attributes of good citizen and leadership

To promote physical fitness

To stimulate interest in the sea element of the Canadian Forces.
